Watford Fringe 2020

WatFringe 1st to 25th October 2020

See WatFringe.co.uk for full, latest details

The Watford Fringe is still going ahead. The worsening general COVID-19 situation has meant that we had to make changes to our Fringe plans to enable it to go ahead safely. So reluctantly, at short notice, we have implemented some of our contingency plans, which does mean some major changes to the schedule. There are 12 online only shows continuing online between 1st – 4th October, and 22 shows move to dates between 9th – 25th October that will have socially distanced audiences.

All existing ticket holders will be contacted and full refunds will be given for any cancelled show. Thank you for your support.

The Watford Fringe is back from Friday 1st October 2020 with
Music | Drama | Comedy | Improv | Dance | Poetry | Musical Theatre

We have worked hard to plan a flexible set of safe festival that incorporates social distancing and other safety considerations. We have added online streaming facilities so that the events can additionally reach an audiences that cannot or are reluctant to attend live events in person. We also contingency plans to cope with any last-minute changes in government or health advice.

Once around the sun

The workshop for children and families, will explore how ancient circle dances from around the globe, offer connection to our planet, and inspire creative ideas. Guided by Kate Flatt, the activities – whatever age we are – will offer through dance, a positive sense of connection between us and how we can work to sustain and value our Earth.

Kate is a choreographer and experienced workshop leader working both in UK and internationally. Her ‘Ballroom of Joys and Sorrows’ was a dance theatre work, that drew on rituals and celebration of community, created in Watford for 55 local participants of all ages. Kate will be accompanied by Tim van Eyken the original song man in Warhorse. Come and enjoy this creative and engaging experience, with your family and friends!!

£5 per family. To book: contact Sharon.Gaffney@Pumphouse.info 01923 241362

As the situation progresses and we get past the initial lockdown, we will also offer ways that you can enjoy art, shows, clubs and events safely either onsite or online through live broadcasts.

The Pump House Theatre and Arts Centre has been running for over 46 years and there have been so much incredible Art, Music Dance and Drama to ooze out of this old Pumping Station over that time. This year alone we have had over 20,000 people from all ages and backgrounds step over the threshold to either entertain or be entertained. The biggest story however is that all of this is run by volunteers – over 1500 per year which is remarkable. This is truly a community theatre and arts centre and if you were to start this from scratch it would be very hard to recreate this incredible community place.

92% of our income comes from our doors being open, with only 8% coming from funding streams. In this day and age that is pretty remarkable, however with our doors closed then it is hard to generate this income. We have not however been sitting on our laurels. The Pump House and our community have been putting plenty of entertainment to keep you occupied online. Our Children and Youth had an online Cabaret; EUTV was developed by the amazing Electric Umbrella; Jazz has been played online weekly; Ghost stories are being told; Shakespeare Monologue workshops with the incredible Tom Kanji and IsoVision has been set up to help people get over the devastation of the Eurovision being cancelled…or not possibly just for fun. All of this is free for you to access by going to www.pumphouse.info. We will be publishing everything we are doing here.

We do however, need your support if possible. To be able to keep our doors open and be here for the future we need some help. Are you able to do a fundraiser for us or are you able to donate? Your support will help us ensure that The Pump House doors remain open for generations to come. Thank you.
