Belying its name, this band doesn’t play just Dixieland Jazz – their concerts take the form of a musical @whistle stop@ journey through a wide spectrum of jazz styles from New Orleans Classic period through swing, urban blues and mainstream to their arrangements of compositions by some of the modern jazz greats such as Ellington, Mingus, etc. This brings a freshness and variety into their constantly changing programmes. The appeal of their performances has been much in evidence recently with the great receptions (and return engagements!) received at prestigious venues such as the West End’s ‘Spice of Life’, The Epsom Playhouse, Wickham Bishops, Colchester Jazz Club and many others in London and the Home Counties. Their music is appreciated by audiences – Whatever they play, they’ll play it with a swing and feeling!! Their musicians include Goff Dubber (reeds),Andy Woon (trumpet), Mike Hogh (trombone), Tim Huskisson (piano), Andy Lawrence (bass) and Martin Guy (drums).
